User Feedback and unexpected feature in OXID eShop 4.2.0
Today, I was mainly working on two topics: Firstly, there came up some requests about the roadmap for the upcoming 4.2.0 release of OXID eShop. Obviously, I did not explain it well enough in my blog post. I probably have to explain it a more clear way the next time… On the other hand, I found out some interesting news: OXID eShop will provide overridable templates from now on. That means – if you adapted the config.inc.php in an appropriate way, the shop will look up if there is an individual template in a (e.g.) custom-folder. If there is nothing to be found, the shop hops back to /basic/ to drag the requested template from that place. This and the “cumulative updates” feature might be espacially interesting for upcoming update routines 🙂
Since today, the so called “Feature Request Pipeline” has been mingled internally. I was busy putting all community requests to User Voice today. I really tried to find an alternative but User Voice seems to be the most reasonable service for open source companies. On Partner Day we will come up with an official declaration of how to handle feature requests in future.
