OXID eShop v4.8.11 and v4.10 beta published, v4.9.8 postponed

This is a quick note to let you know that OXID eShop versions 4.8.11  Professional and Community Edition (5.1.11 Enterprise Edition) as well as OXID eShop versions 4.10.0 beta PE and CE (5.3.0 beta EE) have been published.

Please note that, due to O’Brians law (“Murphy was an optimist”), the release of OXID eShop version 4.9.8 PE and CE (5.2.8) has to be postponed until next week.

Here are some details about these releases:

OXID eShop 4.8.11/5.1.11

This is a legacy branch release and officially still supported. It’s EoL will be announced with the stable release of OXID eShop 4.10/5.3. This patch release contains just bug fixes, no template changes. It was officially released on April 26th 2016. Please find the release notes here:

OXID eShop 4.9.8/5.2.8

The present maintenance branch release. This patch release contains just bug fixes, no template changes and an updated PHPmailer to version 5.2.14. It will officially be released next week. Please find the release notes here, at least finished as from the release date:

OXID eShop 4.10.0/5.3.0 beta

This is the first OXID eShop version of the new series 4.10/5.3 (master branch). It will also be the last series of this kind as from series 6 on, when we will strictly turn to semantic versioning (more infos to come later). Due to this change, OXID eShop versions 4.10.0 beta and accordingly 5.3.0 beta contain just bug fixes, no template changes. Please expect source code marked as deprecated in this version as well as the responsive Flow theme (beta) packaged with this version. Users of an OXID eShop Professional and Enterprise Edition will receive packages including the new Visual CMS feature (beta).

At the end of the day this means, that updating OXID eShop from series 4.9/5.2 to series 4.10/5.3 (stable) will be as easy as a charm – no BC (backwards compatibility) breaks nor new build-in features to expect.

The beta phase will last for about two months, the stable version will most likely be published in June 2016.

Please do not use OXID eShop 4.10.0/5.3.0 beta for productive environments. Also, we will not provide update packages from older versions to this beta version nor update packages from the beta version to stable or newer versions. During the beta phase, please feel free to play around with it and to report or fix any bug you find.

Update (29th April 2016):
Additionally, the admin panel got a CSS face lift

New extension PayPal version 3.2.3

Additionally, a new version of the regular PayPal extension was published and can be downloaded from OXID eXchange for CE (this way for PE and EE, please). The bug tracker change log say that there was just a bug fixed but the GitHub changelog reveals some more interesting changes, such as cgi-bin before webscr (PayPal API change).
